Push Back Begins

What is the single most damaging thing white people learn about #racism in childhood?
Join Robert in the introduction to the series, as he begins to walk the hills of Pennsylvania, talking about this topic that is so very important to him, hoping other white people will listen and start talking too.

QUESTION: “You mentioned that there was a stop on the underground railroad at Caledonia, but then never returned to that subject. Do you know any more about it?”

RHO’S REPLY: I was only able to find a little more info about Caledonia in particular. However, while filming those segments I became absolutely fascinated by the rich Black history of the surrounding area. ALSO, while editing that episode I reflected on the fact that although I like each RTR location to have a connection to Black history, I also don’t want the Black history to just be a backdrop for my white-work. SO, I have an “extra” episode in the works to share some of what I found with all of you. In the meantime, check out the Franklin County PA website for some cool info: https://franklincountypa.gov/history/

QUESTION: “You keep talking about the United States. You know racism is across the globe, right?”

RHO’S REPLY: Yes, and I appreciate this point. Since the United States is the country I know best, my reflections are deliberately centered here. I judge this to be the most honest approach. However, in future segments, when I do think a point may be credibly generalized on a broader scale, I will try to do so.
